Your Child & Baptism
The birth of a baby is a special, joyful moment for parents and the wider family. Many people want to celebrate this new life by bringing their child to be baptised (or christened) followed by a family party.
But baptism does not simply celebrate a birth. It is also a public ceremony which marks the point when a person joins the Church as a Christian.
Joining the Church family
Bringing your child to baptism means you make him or her a Christian. You will promise to bring up your child within the Church family - to learn about and explore the Christian faith. So you should consider your understanding of Christianity, for children learn best by their parents’ example.
